Editor's review
PaperBox is a convenient application allowing you to create nice paper envelopes and covers for CDs. The unique feature of the program is printing unfolded standard paper envelopes.
Pros: This application lets users create CD envelopes and paper liners for CD cases of various type. It lets you print a cover on standard unfolded paper envelopes. Besides printing of liner notes for jewel, slim-line or amaray cases can be printed by the application.
The user interface is simple and does not take any learning time at all. Depending on whether paper envelope or one of the other choices is made an envelope outline or a liner outline is presented in the display area. When printing is done, all it takes is to cut out this outline and either fold it along the outline as an envelope or use the paper as liner/insert in the CD case.
Several background templates could be used for the printing of these items. There are 36 or so templates available in the library. Publishers claim these templates to be universal enough for any type of CD making; be it music, movies, documents or software. There are some standard data that is always printed such as date created, type of media etc. Date created field is augmented by a calendar to help select a date. There’s a free text area where any relevant description can be entered. One can choose images from one’s own collection too. A list of files could simply be picked from the disk explorer browsing. When choosing cover format, the template to be used, one can choose the font types to be used. There are two fonts to be chosen.
Cons: A list of compatible printers should have been made available.
Overall: The application is quite good for the function it is directed at, has a simple and easy to learn interface. It is rate at 3 star level.
